Be a Volunteer

Be our Volunteer

At the National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP), we believe in shared social responsibility and contribution to society. We hope to spread this spirit of giving among the community we serve. Volunteers are essential in helping NHGP achieve its vision – “To be the leading health-promoting institution that helps advance family medicine and transform primary healthcare in Singapore.” As our volunteers, you partner with us, add diversity to NHGP, and bring in fresh perspectives in service provision.

Volunteering brings you joy and allows you to make a difference in someone’s life, including your own. As our volunteer, you will learn skills and knowledge gained from the various training and development provided, as well as through the interactions with our healthcare staff.

Volunteering Opportunities

Fall Prevention Advocates

Falls are a main cause of morbidity and disability in the elderly. In Singapore, about one-third of those who aged 60 and above have fallen more than once. Join us as a Fall Prevention Advocate to:

  • Help our elderly patients stay safe while navigating their appointment in our clinics
  • Raise awareness and share tips on fall prevention, such as the use of appropriate walking aid
  • Conduct tours at the Ageing-in-Place (AIP) studio located at Toa Payoh Polyclinic. The AIP is a replica of a studio apartment that showcases various practical solutions and tips that help the elderly or persons with fall risks live more safely and independently in the home setting.

Health Advocates

Did you know that 1 in every 4 Singaporeans, aged 40 years and above have at least one of the following conditions: Diabetes, High blood pressure, High blood cholesterol, or Stroke? If you believe that prevention is better than cure and would like to share this message with your fellow residents, we want you!

Join us as a Health Advocate to:

  • Promote preventive screening programmes
  • Encourage positive health behaviours among our patients, your loved ones and the community
  • Provide thematic health education (at booth or on foot)

Roving Guide

Digitalisation in the healthcare industry has allowed patients to be more informed and engaged in managing their own health and in supporting the medical care of their loved ones.

Be part of the digitalisation and join us as a Roving Guide to:

  • Support and guide patients, especially the elderly, to build up their digital literacy and confidence in using technology (e.g. self-help kiosks, Tele-Health Services, HealthHub mobile app)
  • Help patients navigate their journey in the polyclinic
  • Answer any queries to enhance patients’ experience

Project and Event (Ad-hoc)

For volunteers with limited time, you can join us on an ad-hoc basis and be involved in health promotion projects, such as health-related events (e.g. World Heart Day).
